About Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks
Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks began as a food truck in Bay Shore, Long Island, in 2014. The concept came from our founder’s love for authentic Philly cheesesteaks, a staple at beachside barbecues during his childhood family vacations. And, in case you were wondering, “Chiddy’s” is the nickname of founder, Michael Chidester, from his years at Lehigh University. Graduating with an industrial engineering degree and later earning an MBA from St. John’s University led to a successful corporate career, but Michael’s entrepreneurial spirit and strong belief in methodical problem-solving led him to follow his dream to own his own enterprise. Memories of his favorite sandwich and a desire to bring an authentic Philly cheesesteak experience to Long Island led to the launch of his first venture. The food truck quickly became and remains enormously popular, as word spread throughout the South Shore that it was now possible to get a taste of a “real” Philadelphia cheesesteak nearby. The first truck’s popularity spawned a second, and in 2018, Michael expanded into several successful brick-and-mortar restaurants, which now include franchise operations spanning from Oakdale, in Eastern Long Island, NY, to a seasonal operation at CitiField in Queens.
Do not, however, let the name of our venture, nor our signature sandwich offering, fool you into thinking Chiddy’s is a one-trick pony. In fact, our dynamic menu truly offers something for everyone. And every menu item, from our juicy jumbo wings to our savory empanadas, is made fresh and just for you, our customer, using only top-quality ingredients. You can taste the Chiddy’s difference. There is also nothing stuffy about dining at Chiddy’s either. Our atmosphere is hospitable as well as inviting. We want you to be comfortable and will accommodate any and all dietary needs of everyone in your party. That is why in addition to our most popular menu item, Chiddy’s authentic Philly cheesesteak we offer numerous variations of this theme (think of these as your “Long Island cheesesteaks”), including “The Pizza Steak” stuffed with juicy steak, melted mozzarella, homemade marinara, topped with pepperoni, on a toasted garlic roll, the Mac Chiddy topped with our, you guessed it, homemade mac ‘n cheese, a meatless version featuring plant protein, and so many more! And that is just the cheesesteaks!
Who doesn’t love Breakfast All Day? Our options include a Breakfast Burrito just loaded with steak, scrambled eggs, and so much more! When you crave a snack, we have a Fry Bar just for you, Hot Dogs, including our take on the Jersey Ripper. You’ll also appreciate our Kidz Menu, Sweet Treats, and Salads, so it should come as no surprise that Chiddy’s is a dining destination whenever you and your family, friends, and co-workers need a special “something something” any hour of the day, into the night. Also, while our food truck remains a lunchtime staple along the South Shore, it is also possible to hire our truck to cater your event. We gladly customize menus to suit whatever you desire (including vegan and gluten-free) and are the ideal choice for a family reunion, wedding, birthday, graduation, corporate event, anniversary, and more.
